  • Overview

    KeyW is looking to hire an experienced Engineering Technician for our North Andover, MA Remote Sensing Division Headquarters.


    Under limited supervision, performs moderately complex technical functions in support of engineering development activities such as assembly, modification, installation and test electronic, optic, and electromechanical systems.


    Works from limited documentation, schematics, diagrams, notes and drawings.  Guidance is usually available from superiors.  Conducts engineering/development testing and detailed experimental testing to collect data or otherwise assist in general research work.  Performs prototype fabrication and assembly of optical, electronic and mechanical systems.


    Performs troubleshooting and repair of equipment using standard laboratory test equipment including oscilloscope, VOM, DVM, signal generators and similar test apparatus.  Performs installation of equipment into aircraft with potential in-flight

    testing of equipment.


    Works with engineering and flight operations staff to coordinate payload installation and flight test scheduling.  May perform equipment packing, shipping, receiving, stocking duties.


    Experience and Training: Technical training equivalent to 2 years technical trade school or military technical school and between 5 to 8 years of directly applicable work experience in technical development. 


    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    • Assembly of electronic / electromechanical / optical components
    • Electrical wiring of electromechanical assemblies (cable harness assembly, cable routing)
    • Assembly and repair of signal and power cables (crimp, solder, coax)
    • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
    • Experience with electrical test equipment (voltmeters, oscilloscopes, etc.)
    • Ability to follow verbal or documented rework/repair instructions with little to no assistance
    • Creation of assembly work instructions and/or process documentation


    Optional / Preferred Skills:

    • Experience in light aircraft environments
    • Experience with scheduling and coordination of test activities from assembly through acceptance
    • Computer experience (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
    • Inventory/asset management experience (asset condition verification & data entry)
    • Tool room management (parts, fasteners, tools)
    • Light machining experience (drill press, bandsaw, etc.)
    • Linux/Windows experience (installation, troubleshooting, software tools)
