Responsibilities

Join our DCGS-A engineering and sustainment services DCGS-A DE-AA team responsible for the development, modification and support of mission-critical secure cross-domain systems and applications.  The DCGS-A Fixed sustainment software development team designs, codes and modifies robust, secure, high-availability software and systems of systems to handle DoD intelligence data presentation needs as specified by user requirements and DoD regulations.

 

Responsibilities

As a DE-SS test engineer, you will work individually and as part of a team to design and comprehensively execute tests related to current and future versions of cross domain systems and software, and the documentation supporting them.  Specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to plan the translation of software requirements into test cases validating their successful implementation in software development
  • Completely install and configure supported systems and their network connectivity as part of the testing process, and as preparation for testing of the running systems
  • Operate supported systems with a level of proficiency sufficient for the timely execution of test strategies
  • Utilize subject matter expertise to seek out software, configuration and documentation defects not previously anticipated or captured in formal test plans
  • Execute formal and informal tests with objectivity and strict attention to detail
  • Accurately record the results of tests, clearly communicate the findings by verbal and written means to multiple levels of stakeholders, and assist in the analysis of causes and solutions
  • Assist software developers on the team with testing activities tailored to troubleshoot and debug code actively under development
  • Comply with ISD PPSS Lifecycle requirements for software baseline handoffs to configuration management, integration and independent testing
  • Test third party and in-house developed software utilities used in support of Sustainment activities
  • Perform troubleshooting activities such as problem validation and error replication to assist in the resolution of issues reported by end users
  • Test and quantify hardware, system and software performance across multiple metrics

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree specifically in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or other Engineering or Technical discipline and 4 years of professional relevant work experience (with no substitution for a degree)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in UNIX / Linux administration (preferably Solaris and Red Hat), including activities such as operating system installation, configuration and patching, and application installation and configuration
  • Use of industry standard tools for creating professional documentation (e.g., MS Word, Excel)
  • Experience with performance profiling of systems, applications and functions in terms of multiple metrics (e.g. memory, storage and CPU utilization, time)
  • Understanding of networking technologies
  • Must be self-starter, willing to take complete ownership of complex technical problems
  • Should be able to think clearly and articulate with appropriate level of abstraction his/her thought process on complex technological issues
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certified--baseline security certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+ CE) and technical computing environment training or certification (e.g. Server+) prior to start of work
  • Secret Clearance Required. TS/SCI Eligibility needed based on final work assignment

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ experience with DE-SS, DE-AA, or another DCGS-A family system
  • At least 2 years software development experience in UNIX / Linux shell scripting languages (e.g. Bash, csh, ksh, Perl, Tcl)
  • Experience in UNIX / Linux coding (preferably Solaris and Red Hat), including compiled languages such as Java and C, and object-oriented methodologies
  • Experience with PL/SQL database administration
  • Experience developing utilities in a MS Windows environment
  • Experience developing automated testing mechanisms
  • Experience in security hardening of operating systems and networked communications
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize virtualization technologies (preferably VMware) in a development and testing environment
  • Knowledge of DoD messaging and classification markings
