Join our DCGS-A Sustainment Process Improvement (PI)/Product and Process Quality Assurance (PPQA) team responsible for ensuring efficient processes and quality deliveries of a diverse DCGS-A family of products. In the PI/PPQA service area we monitor adherence to, and improvement of, our government customer’s software development processes and procedures, and ensure the quality of their products.



As a software engineering focused PI/PPQA Specialist, you will be part of a team that performs two primary functions: PI activities to review and revise existing software development processes and procedures, improve efficiency, and produce repeatable results; PPQA activities to ensure the accuracy and quality of delivered documents and software products, including over-the-shoulder assistance in resolving software issues during development and testing.  Specifically, you will:

  • Review, edit, and revise standard operating procedures, task instructions, process documents, templates, and other documents as directed
  • Conduct formal audits and courtesy spot checks of documents, processes, and products throughout the work-cycle
  • Perform inquiries and cause analysis as directed to render a finding
  • Initiate, perform, or support PI efforts based on observations or customer direction
  • Maintain the PI/PPQA documentation in accordance with best business practices
  • Perform Software Engineering Institute (SEI) Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) process improvement tasks and activities
  • Prepare for and participate in Standard CMMI Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI) related activities
  • Advise management of risks that may affect project schedules
  • Analyze trends, develop reports, facilitate communication, and provide feedback on process performance
  • Work as a team member while demonstrating initiative and the ability to perform individual tasks.
  • Observe and advise engineering personnel with analysis of received systems (operating system, patches and applications) and ensure Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) resolution and accurate accounting for component software versioning
  • Observe and participate in system installation and testing on physical and virtual machines to assure proper functionality, focusing on verifying that processes employed resulted in proper behavior after software and configuration changes
  • Ability to resolve noted issues by developing custom scripts and software, and/or technical documentation solutions as dictated by the nature of the issue and the desired outcome
  • Work with software development engineers, software integration engineers, and system and software testing engineers in the development and integration of software solutions for the DCGS-A family of systems.


Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Programming, or similar Information Technology area, and 9 years of professional work experience is required (or a total of 13 years’ relevant experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Demonstrated knowledge networking technology in support of software testing
  • Demonstrated experience in creating step by step technical documentation (i.e. task instructions, software installation instructions, or engineering “readme” files) 
  • Demonstrated high level experience in using MS Office suite products (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality control and quality assurance principles and practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Process Improvement
  • Demonstrated Experience with effective written and oral communications skills and abilities; including presentation and briefing experience
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication skills with multiple levels of stakeholders
  • Must be self-starter, willing to take complete ownership of complex technical problems
  • Should be able to think clearly and articulate with appropriate level of abstraction his/her thought process on complex technological issues
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certified on first day of work (i.e. CompTIA Security+ce and additional computing environment certification)
  • Secret Clearance Required. TS/SCI Eligibility needed based on final work assignment

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years direct experience in working with CMMI for development projects
  • 1+ years of direct experience as a SCAMPI team member
  • At least 2 years’ experience with system administration (Linux/Windows)
  • At least 2 years of software development experience in scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell etc.)
  • Linux and/or Oracle Solaris certification (i.e. Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE, OCA, OCP)
  • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT)
  • Familiarity with system administration (Linux/Windows)
  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell etc.)
  • Familiarity with project management principles (i.e. PMI, ITIL, CMMI, AGILE)
  • Experience working in a VMware virtualized DoD lab environment
  • Ability to work with a team:
    • Work with Team Leader, team members, service area personnel, and customer to perform Quality Assurance activities and Process Improvement projects
    • Integrate individual efforts into the team’s overarching mission
    • Handle multi-tasking and changes to tasking
    • Be able to execute tasking with minimal guidance.
